FBI raids home of LA superintendent Carvalho.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has raided the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) offices and the home of its superintendent. According to the LA Times and the Associated Press, the FBI conducted the raids on the morning of the 25th at the home of LAUSD Superintendent Alberto Carvalho in San Pedro, California, and the LAUSD office building in downtown Los Angeles.
An FBI spokesperson did not disclose the reason for the raid, citing a court order to keep affidavits containing criminal charges confidential. LAUSD also responded, saying, «We are cooperating with the investigation and cannot provide any further information.»

ABC News, citing multiple sources, reported that the incident appeared to be a «white-collar crime.» Superintendent Carvalho will lead LAUSD, the second-largest school district in the United States, starting in 2022. LAUSD currently serves over 500,000 students. A Portuguese immigrant, Superintendent Carvalho has been vocal in his opposition to the Trump administration’s oppressive immigration enforcement policies.

Last year, when Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents attempted to enter an LAUSD elementary school, they refused to allow them and established «safe zones» around the schools to protect students. He also stated in a separate press conference, «We will not tolerate unethical, immoral, or illegal behavior targeting our students and staff.»
